When talking with a friend for example, I could use the pronoun “เรา” to refer to myself, but I’d have to switch it with “ผม” whenever I was talking with someone older or in a position superior to me. When I lived in a small village in the north of Chiang Mai near the Burmese border (I was helping out in English lessons), the senior teacher whom I often saw was quick to correct me whenever it slipped my mind :/

In short, I think that Thai is a elegant and quirky language which is an absolute joy to know and use.
