A few years back, a classmate of mine at school was asked to perform the Snoopy I don’t have an attitude problem you have a problem shirt and I will buy this role of Goddess Durga in one of the events at annual function. She refused vehemently stating some stupid excuse. But later that day she signed up to act as a modern college going girl in another event. Sadly she wasn’t able to do much justice to her role. But she would have made a wonderful Durga(here I’m not telling that Indian culture is better, but shouldn’t we consider both to be equal? I’m suggesting that she should have pondered over both the characters and chosen the role that suited her the best) And then there’s the change in dressing styles. Many people consider a person wearing traditional clothes to be a ‘Behenji/Bhaiya’. He/she is old fashioned according to them. Why can’t they realise that Indian and Western wear are just different? None is superior to the other. I wear both Western and Indian with equal gusto and equal frequency. I love them both.(Another thing- a saree doesn’t hinder mobility once you get used to it. Or are you suggesting that you’re more agile than a Bharatnatyam dancer, or do more physical work than a farmer or a manual labourer?)

Going to clubs every Friday night is considered to be better than going to temple every Monday. It’s such a great thing to remember and be thankful to God atleast once in a while. Why is it such a bad thing according to you? Don’t you know that Christians in the Snoopy I don’t have an attitude problem you have a problem shirt and I will buy this west(and also in India too) go to church every Sunday(Muslims in India and abroad also go to mosques every Friday). At last I’d like to say that if you’re so much influenced by the Western culture, why don’t you abide by the values of equality that’s so prevalent in the Western culture? Why do you consider someone who has the slightest interest in something Indian to be of a lower status? Such pseudo-western attitude doesn’t impress me at all.
